Somatic therapy, the heart of my practice
Somatic therapy is counseling that includes your body, not just your thoughts. We work with sensation, breath, emotion and nervous system patterns so healing reaches the places where trauma, grief, and stress actually live.

Why somatic therapy works when insight alone has not
You can understand your story completely and still flinch at a tone of voice, still brace at the sound of a text, still lie awake with a racing chest. That is because overwhelming experiences are stored in the parts of the brain and body that language barely reaches. Insight lives in the mind. The response to triggers still lives in the body. Somatic therapy works with your body to release stuck emotions and memories of traumatic experiences.
In sessions we weave conversation with gentle body awareness. You might be telling me about a pattern you've been noticing and I will invite you to pause: where do you feel that? We stay with what you find, with grounding tools to keep you steady, and something usually moves. A deeper breath arrives. Tears come. A pattern makes sense in a new way, not just intellectually but physically.
Everything is invitational. You never have to close your eyes, revisit a memory before you are ready, or do anything that feels wrong for your body.
Who somatic therapy tends to help
This work resonates with women healing from trauma and complex PTSD, grief that lives in the chest and bones, anxiety that no amount of logic touches, and the disconnection that follows years of pushing through. It is a particularly strong fit if you have done talk therapy, learned a lot, and still feel stuck in your body's old patterns. And because feeling better is not the whole goal, I weave in cognitive approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, so the calm we build becomes movement toward the life you want.

Somatic therapy questions
Is somatic therapy real therapy?
Yes. It is a clinically-proven modality that has become increasingly popular due to it's effectiveness in the last 10ish years.
Does somatic therapy involve touch?
No. My work is entirely talk and guided body awareness over secure video. You track your own sensations; nothing requires physical contact.
Can somatic therapy be done online?
Fully. The work happens inside your own body and attention, and video sessions let you do it from your own comfortable, private space.
