Before You Reach Out

Questions people actually ask

Everything women usually want to know before starting somatic therapy with me: cost, logistics, credentials, and what the work is really like. If your question is not here, ask me directly. There are no silly questions about therapy.

What is somatic therapy in simple terms?

Somatic therapy is counseling that works with your body and nervous system, not only your thoughts. Instead of just talking about what happened, we gently work with how it lives in you now: the tension, the alarm, the numbness, so your body can learn the danger has passed.

Do you take insurance?

I am private pay at $150 per 50 minute session, and I provide superbills you can submit to your insurance for possible out of network reimbursement. Ask your plan about out of network mental health benefits to see what they cover.

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. Every new client starts with a free 15 minute video consultation, so you can feel if we are a good fit before spending anything.

Are sessions in person or online?

All sessions are online by secure, HIPAA compliant video. I am based in Orlando and see adults located anywhere in Florida.

Who do you work with?

Mostly women healing from trauma, complex PTSD, grief, anxiety, and big life transitions. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcoming to every body.

What happens in the free 15 minute consultation?

We meet on video, you share whatever feels comfortable about what brings you, you ask me anything, and we both feel out the fit. If I am not the right person, I will do my best to point you toward someone who is.

How often are sessions?

Weekly to start, in most cases. Consistency is what lets your nervous system build trust in the process. We revisit frequency together during your time in therapy.

How long will I be in therapy?

It depends on what you are carrying and what you want. Some people come for a season around a transition; deeper trauma and complex PTSD work usually unfolds over months or years. I will always be honest with you about progress.

What credentials do you hold?

I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida, practicing under the supervision of Jorelle Degen, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH14882). I hold a masters in clinical mental health counseling from Rollins College and a 500 hour trauma informed yoga certification with about ten years of teaching experience.

What is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern?

It is Florida's official registration for counselors who have completed their graduate clinical training and are accruing supervised experience toward full licensure. It means every aspect of my work is overseen by a licensed supervisor, which many clients experience as an extra layer of care.

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?

No. Somatic work lets your body process experiences without narrating every scene. You are in charge of what we touch and when, always.

What if I cry, go blank, or cannot find words?

Then therapy is working with real material. Tears, blankness, and lost words are nervous system responses and they are welcome in the room.

Can I do sessions from my car or office?

Yes, as long as you have privacy and can be still and undistracted for the hour. Many Florida clients take sessions from a parked car, a closed office, or home.

What if we are not a good fit?

Fit matters more than anything in therapy, and I will never take it personally. If we are not right for each other, I will help you find someone better suited.
