A decade of trauma informed yoga behind the counseling
My path started long before graduate school. I found yoga and Eastern philosophy as a teenager, and it changed the way I understood what healing could be. I realized that engaging in these practices could help to create a safe space within my own body during a time where my environment felt consistently chaotic. In 2017 I completed my 500 hour trauma informed yoga teacher training, and for nearly a decade I have taught yoga and mindfulness in my community & in mental health facilities.
Over those years, I kept seeing the same thing. People could understand their pain inside and out, and still feel stuck in it. The missing piece was almost never more insight. It was knowing how to be in their body. The nervous system holds our history, and until it learns that the danger has passed, it keeps living like the danger is now.
That is what led me to become a counselor. I earned my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College, and I built my practice around one idea: healing that includes the body goes places talk alone cannot reach.
Trauma and grief therapy for women in Florida
Most of my clients are women, though my door is open to anyone this work speaks to. They come to me healing from trauma and complex PTSD, moving through grief, or standing at the edge of a big life change: the relationship that needs to end, the job that is hollowing them out, the version of themselves they have outgrown.
They are often the strong one, the one who holds it together for everyone else. Underneath, they are tired of feeling on edge, or numb, or like a stranger in their own life.
If that is you, I want you to know this work is for you too, exactly as you are right now.
What somatic therapy sessions with me feel like
Sessions with me feel like a conversation with someone who is fully in your corner, with room to slow down, experience your emotions and fully hear the signals your body is sending you. Some weeks we talk through what is happening in your life. Some weeks we slow down and follow what your body is holding: the tight chest, the clenched jaw, the heaviness you cannot name to release stuck emotions. I bring in mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle somatic practices when they serve you, and never before you are ready.
My goal is for you to reconnect with yourself so fully that you can embrace all that life has to offer. Long term healing happens in micro movements: small, steady acts of care your body learns to trust. That is what we practice together.
And when you are ready to carry that steadiness out into your life, I weave in cognitive approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, gentle tools for choosing what matters and moving toward it, one honest step at a time.
